Ambassador SHIN Dong-Ik
Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations
Ambassador Shin has served in a variety of capacities dealing with multilateral and UN related affairs since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 1981. He has assumed political, economic and consular posts in Seattle (1986-1989), Kuala Lumpur (1992-1995) and Geneva (2001-2003). He also served as Research Associate at the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS) in London from 1996 to 1997. From 2005 to 2008, he served as Minister-Counsellor at the Korean Mission to the United Nations in New York, and from 2008 to 2010, he was the Director-General for International Organizations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as well as an Advisor at the United Nations Foundation in New York. Ambassador Shin began his post as Deputy Permanent Representative in February 2011.
Ambassador Shin holds two Master of Arts degrees in international relations from the University of Pennsylvania (1985) and Yonsei University (1983). He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Yonsei University (1981).
He has written several articles during his diplomatic career that have appeared in various publications such as Survival (UK), Pacific Review (UK), Diplomacy (ROK) and Foreign Policy (ROK).

Ambassador SUL Kyung Hoon
Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations
Ambassador Sul entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 1982. Since then, he has worked on a variety of multilateral issues related to economic and development cooperation, the United Nations, international economic organizations, disarmament and non-proliferation, and international law. He has assumed political, economic and consular posts in New York (1987-90), Iran (1994-1996), Geneva (1998-2001), and Kuwait (2004-2006). From 2006 to 2009, he was posted as Minister-Counsellor at the Korean Mission to the United Nations in New York. He served as Deputy Director-General for International Organizations in 2009 and as Director-General for Development Cooperation dealing with development assistance to developing countries from 2009 to 2011. He began his post as Deputy Permanent Representative to UN in August 2011.
Ambassador Sul received his Master of Arts in international political economy from the University of Virginia (1985). He received a Bachelor's degree in economics from Seoul National University (1981).
In 2005, the Korean Government awarded him the red-stripe medal for distinguished officials.

Security Council and Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) Team |
Works on issues related to the Security Council, including international sanctions, peacekeeping operations and Security Council reform, in order to maintain international peace and security in countries afflicted by conflict as well as the larger world. |

General Assembly Team |
Works on issues related to the General Assembly, including elections, the activities of the Secretary General, and developing friendly relations with other nations. |

Disarmament Team |
Works on issues related to the First Committee of the General Assembly, including disarmament of all weapons stocks and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Also monitors the transport, import and export of weapons and publishes arms trade and weapons possession information on the UN Office of Disarmament Affairs website. |

Economic Development and Environment Team |
Works on issues related to the Second Committee of the General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council, including economic growth and development, financial issues, RIO+20, Triangular Cooperation, cooperation between North and South countries and South-South Cooperation. |

Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Team |
Works on issues under the Third Committee of the General Assembly, including social and humanitarian affairs and human rights issues. Examines issues such as the empowerment of women and girls, the health and well-being of women and children, and fighting against racism and other forms of discrimination. |

Administrative and Budgetary Team |
Works on issues related to the Fifth Committee of the General Assembly, including administrative and budgetary matters, such as making budget-related recommendations to specialized agencies. |

Legal Team |
Works on legal issues dealt with in the Sixth Committee of the General Assembly. |
|
General Affairs |
Oversees administrative work of the Republic of Korea Mission. |
